Florida Education Channel Wins International Award For Video Production

The Florida Education Channel (FEC) has been awarded a prestigious Communicator Award which honors work that transcends innovation and craft. The awards are sanctioned and judged by the International Academy of Visual Arts, an invitation only body consisting of top-tier professionals from acclaimed media, communications, advertising, creative and marketing firms.

The FEC entry into this year’s competition featured a video that was produced on behalf of the Chautauqua Learn and Serve Charter School in Panama City, Florida to highlight service learning and volunteerism and its impact on educating persons with developmental disabilities.

The Communicator Awards receive over 6,000 entries from companies and agencies of all sizes, making it one of the largest awards of its kind in the world.

Fla. House District 7 candidate Mike Williams responds to PAEC funding veto

With Governor Rick Scott's surprise veto of funding for the Panhandle Area Educational Consortium on Tuesday, Florida House District 7 candidate, Mike Williams issued the following statement:

“I am surprised and disappointed that Gov. Scott would veto funding for the Panhandle Area Educational Consortium. While I agree that programs need to be student focused with measurable outcomes, eliminating funding for a program that has helped 14 of the smallest and most economically challenged districts in the state should have been done through the legislative process, not by a sneak attack of the veto pen. This action increases the level of unfunded mandates on local school districts and local governments that I am committed to fight against.”

Consortium fears veto will silence Education Channel

CHIPLEY - The Panhandle Area Educational Consortium lost its state funding because Gov. Rick Scott thinks the 14 school districts in the group should pay for the services themselves instead of using state funds, according to a statement from Scott's office.
